Full Description:
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Financial Accountant to work for this large, forward thinking organisation.

You will be responsible for the monitoring and active promotion of the highest level of compliance with IFRS and the financial regulations and standards and be involved in the design and development of the finance systems.

Your duties will be as follows:

• Leading the design, development and implementation of financial systems

• Ensuring the provision of high quality financial and accounting advice, either directly or through teams

• Undertaking high level payroll checks on a monthly basis in line with strict timescales

• Identifying where Financial Services and Management Accounts need to work together eg debt write offs, expense coding of billing vouchers and ensuring effective relationships are developed between the teams

• Supporting Financial Services and Technical Team led initiatives and reviewing their team plans to ensure consistency with wider Finance Team plan

• Providing reports for Department Heads on current accounting issues and forthcoming accounting and system changes as appropriate

• Overseeing communication of system and accounting changes in the business

• Actively contributing to senior meetings

• Appropriate input to design, planning and production of Annual Report and Accounts to high level of compliance with all appropriate regulations.

• Liaising with external auditors on resolving complex concerns.

• Working closely with Legal and other teams in the business ensuring effective framework of financial management and corporate governance is promoted

• Planning and prioritising own and team of 10 staff’s workload so as to effectively satisfy customers needs within the appropriate timescales and in strict accordance with agreed timetables

• Contributing individually and as part of the Finance team to the development and review of strategic and operational plans leading on Technical Accounting and Financial Systems and development

• Ensuring a relevant input and continuous improvement of the organisation’s planning for completion of the Annual Report and Accounts based upon a good working knowledge of the IFRS, Financial Memorandum and government accounting guidelines.

You will have significant experience of working within a heavily regulated environment, have a high degree of financial literacy, together with knowledge of public sector accounting. You will have strong attention to detail in relation to compliance issues and experience of maintaining compliant and effective systems, in the face of significant audit scrutiny. Experience of resolving complex and difficult issues is essential as well as effective IT skills and strong understanding of how IT systems can best support the team objectives.

You will have very strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate and persuade, at all levels up to Chief Executive level, resulting in a track record of successful relationship management. You will have highly developed communications skills, both written and oral, with experience of reporting at a senior level.
