    Job Title:Counter Sales Assistant

    Person responsible to: Branch Manager/Assistant Branch Manager

    People supervised: May be required to supervise in the absence of Assistant Manager / Branch Manager.

    Overall purpose of job: To assist in the day to day running of the Branch, helping to achieve Sales / Margin targets.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Service and support:
    Administrative Responsibilities:
    • To process the daily cash paperwork and prepare banking.
    • To ensure cash/cheques banked on a daily basis.
    • To monitor stock movements and deliveries.
    • To process invoices/credit notes on AS400 system
    • To calculate petty cash returns
    • Filing of all relevant paperwork
    • To ensure payment for goods is received accurately and/or credit approval obtained.
    • To ensure cash/cheques are secured within the Branch till and/or safe at all times.
    • To report any discrepancies (monetary or otherwise) to the Branch Manager immediately.
    • To perform any general admin duties as required.

    Counter responsibilities:
    • To actively sell (face to face and over the telephone) and promote Indespension trailers/parts/associated equipment.
    • To serve customers politely and efficiently either at the counter, off site, on the telephone, providing professional and timely advice on trailers and towing accessories as required.
    • To advise and take orders for trailer hire and towbar fitting updating the diary accordingly. To liaise with the workshop team as required.
    • Ensure all stock orders received are shelved at the earliest opportunity and are presented safely, tidily and in an attractive manner. Displays should be updated and maintained regularly to maximise customer interest.
    • To operate within all Company Policies e.g. Hire, Credit Control, Hire Purchase etc. Refer to the Branch Operations Manual where appropriate.
    • Liaise with the Towbar & Service Technician to ensure they are kept supplied with a steady workload.
    • Ensure customer relations are harmonious at all times.
    • To be a key holder for the Branch (in the absence of the Assistant Manager / Manager) and respond to alarm call outs where necessary.
    • To assist with stock takes as required.
    • To keep work area tidy and operate within the Health and Safety policy of the Company.
    • To always be smart in appearance. To wear Company uniform at all times.
    • To be trained and drive a Fork Lift Truck as required.
    • To hold a full, current driving licence or be working towards this.
    • To perform any other duties deemed reasonable on request.


    Additional Duties (if required):
    • To liaise with the Towbar & Service Technician to ensure they are kept supplied with a steady workload.
    • To deputise in the absence of the Branch Manager and / or Assistant Manager.
    • Deal with customer complaints in a fair, professional and courteous manner referring to the Branch Operations Manager or Branch Operations Manual as required.
    • To keep the Branch Manager informed of Branch related issues.

    Knowledge / Experience / Skills:

    Equipment used: General Office and Branch equipment as necessary.

    Limits of authority: Authorised to deputise for Branch Manager and / or Assistant Manager and report to Sales Director / Branch Operations Manager in his/her absence.

    Internal: To interact with colleagues and management in a positive, co-operative and supportive way

    External: To satisfy the requirements of customers in a harmonious and positive manner

    Travel involved: May be required to deliver trailers/goods or visit prospective or
    existing customers to demonstrate trailers and associated products.

    Special circumstances: To assist at other Branches for cover purposes as and when required.

    Senior Counter Sales: Minimum of 2 years retail / trade counter experience
