    Job Title:Assistant Branch Manager
    Person responsible to:Branch Manager
    People supervised: Counter Sales Team

    Overall purpose of job:
    To assist the Branch Manager in all aspects of the day to day running of the Branch ensuring Branch sales/margin targets are achieved. To deputise in the Manager’s absence.

    Key responsibilities:

    • To be responsible for the Branch Showroom area, the Branch Team (in the Manager’s absence) and overall Branch presentation in conjunction with the Branch Manager.
    • To actively promote and sell companies products (and associated products) and services within agreed pricing structures and at the required margin.
    • To deputise in the Branch Manager’s absence for key areas listed below:
    • To ensure that all staff give 100% commitment throughout the working day and ensure work is allocated to respective employees based on knowledge of that person and their particular workload.
    • To motivate the team to a high standard of morale and to convey to staff what is expected of them in line with their job description.
    • To ensure that customer relations are harmonious at all times and customer complaints must be thoroughly investigated and dealt with in a professional manner. Any complaint which arises because of error or neglect by a member of staff, must be dealt with according to the Company disciplinary procedure liaising with the Human Resources Department and the Branch Operations Manager where appropriate.
    • To keep the Branch Manager informed of Branch and team performance at all times.
    • To ensure there are adequate parts, trailers and equipment available for customer requirements. Stock must be clean, well presented and labelled correctly at all times. Displays should be regularly changed to maintain maximum customer interest.
    • Branch and stock to be secured at all times.
    • Staff timekeeping and attendance is monitored on a regular basis and any abnormalities reported to the Branch Manager.
    • To provide customers with professional, courteous and expert advice both face to face and over the telephone. To demonstrate and sell trailers, trailer parts and towing equipment on and off site as required.
    • To assist the Branch Manager and Workshop Team to ensure Branch sales/margin targets are achieved.
    • To liaise with the Workshop Team monitoring progress and quality. To plan and ensure the workshop is kept supplied with a steady workload and work generated as required. Particular care must be stressed when handling customers’ vehicles/trailers (which must be inspected prior to work commencing), and any customer vehicles on site overnight must be securely stored.
    • To ensure Company procedures are adhered to at all times e.g. Hire procedure, credit approval procedure, etc. referring to the Depot Operations Manual where appropriate.
    • To assist in the training of new members of staff reporting progress/training needs to the Branch Manager/Human Resources Department.
    • To assist Branch Manager in organising and carrying out of stocktakes as required by the Company (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or any other timescale designated), either at the home branch or other as specified given reasonable notice. To ensure stocktakes are carried out in the required timescale and the correct procedures are followed, and to ensure an accurate count. To ensure all staff participate as required.
    • To ensure stock deliveries are checked and ‘put away’ in a timely and safe manner. Any abnormalities to be reported within 24 hours of receipt to the Branch Manager.
    • To become conversant with and be able to operate the computer systems operated by the Company. To complete relevant reports on the computer for cash sales and credit sales ready for banking and post.
    • To be the secondary key holder for the Branch (primary key holder in the Manager’s absence) and respond to alarm call outs where appropriate.
    • To attend sales meetings / training sessions as organised by the Sales Director / Human Resources Department.
    • To be trained and drive a Fork Lift Truck as required.
    • To ensure Company uniform is worn by all members of staff at all times and an acceptable standard of dress is maintained.
    • To enforce the Company NO SMOKING Policy.
    • To operate within the Health & Safety Policy of the Company.
    • To perform any other duties deemed reasonable on request.
    • To hold a full, current driving and towing licence.
