eaga is a Green Support Services company, the UK’s leading provider of residential energy efficiency solutions and an established deliverer of a range of outsourced services that address climate change and social inclusion

eaga’s IT department provides development and maintenance activities to support business users. This role will be based in the Development team.
The role will be for the design, development and implementation of business systems utilising J2EE technologies in an Oracle 10g environment

Key Responsibilities
Design and build of new J2EE-based applications.
As and when required, work and collaborate with IT Web and Applications teams in both the UK and India to progressing new application developments.
Provide technical and trouble-shooting assistance for all J2EE applications.
Ensure that all J2EE applications are maintained and developed according to prevailing standards and best practices
To operate efficiently and effectively within a Project environment to ensure successful delivery of project critical success factors.

Essential Skills
Significant J2EE experience, working directly with J2EE Web Component technologies (Servlets and JSP), and also underlying J2SE core technology, according to structured development standards
Sound knowledge/experience of J2EE 1.2 API Specification or above
Good working knowledge of a professional/industrial-strength J2EE Integrated Development Environment (IDE), such as Oracle JDeveloper or Borland JBuilder
Good working knowledge of Oracle SQL up to and including 10g ( or equivalent )
Exposure to industry-recognised and mainstream Web Application Servers.
A strong appreciation of current and emerging web and J2EE technology trends
Experience of a service-orientated delivery department

Desirable Skills
Understanding and first-hand experience of industry-recognised Java Design Patterns (e.g. Gang of Four J2SE patterns, and J2EE Web Tier patterns such as Model View Controller and Data Access Object)
